MAY 1, 2014 THE SIXTIETH ANNUAL NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR AMERICA

This Thursday will mark the 60th National Day of Prayer for this nation.  Gathered at our nation’s capital will be many of America’s leaders.  Please read and pass this on to members of your various congregations – both church and synagogue – because the hour is extremely late for our nation, and Israel stands alone at this hour and without a friend.  We must, we are compelled within our spirit to stand in the breach and petition the Lord G-d for right leadership, a sea change in the direction of our nation, and life transformation for ourselves as we seek His face at this time.  Our future hangs in the balance.

Please keep Rabbi Jonathan in your prayers that the Lord the Most High give him utterance to speak boldly and without fear G-d’s Word to this nation at this very late hour as our many of our leaders – those who seek God – gather at our nation’s capital to lead US, G-d’s people in a day of national prayer and repentance.  Our nation can be saved, if each of us petition the Lord of mercies for ourselves, for our families, and in behalf of our fellow citizen-brethren, and our leaders and those who as yet have not come to know Him.  America is not in prophecy in the Hebrew Bible or the New Testament.  There is a very good and compelling reason for that.  Because, like Nineveh, the capital of the Assyrian Empire, we too are given at this hour to pray and petition the Lord G-d for His mercy, and the fate of our nation once again lies in our hands within the sovereign will of G-d, and He is not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.  Like Abraham inquired of G-d if He would destroy the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah if there were ten righteous people in it, we too must inquire of Him and petition on behalf of America for His mercies, because the hour is late and the sins of this nation have reached heaven, and America is in steep decline.  Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a disgrace to any people. (Proverbs 14:34)  Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, The people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance. (Psalm 33:12)

WND EXCLUSIVE

'Why would God warn, if those He warns cannot respond?'

Rabbi Jonathan Cahn, author of runaway bestseller “The Harbinger,” has been invited to join the speakers for the 63rd annual National Day of Prayer on a date he tells WND holds a special significance in both his book and American history.
The 2014 National Observance of the National Day of Prayer will be broadcast live from the Cannon House Office Building in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, May 1, beginning at 9:00 a.m. ET and concluding at 12 noon.
But the speakers’ gathering the day before, Cahn told WND, will be a haunting echo of similar actions taken years ago by America’s Founding Fathers.
“April 30 is the date given in ‘The Harbinger,’” Cahn told WND. “April 30, 1789, is the day that America came into existence as a fully formed nation with president and Congress, and on that day George Washington and America’s first government prayed and dedicated America to God at the very corner of what today we call Ground Zero.
“Now on the anniversary of that first prayer gathering, with America in grave moral and spiritual apostasy, the nation gathers again for prayer,” Cahn said.
Cahn, a Jewish Christian, was invited by National Day of Prayer organizer Shirley Dobson to follow her opening remarks with a reading from Scripture and prayer. Churches across the country will join together at the same time in prayer, and the National Observance will be broadcast live on GodTV and the National Prayer Task Force website.
Scheduled speakers include Cahn, Anne Graham Lotz, daughter of Rev. Billy Graham, founders of Focus on the Family Dr. James and Shirley Dobson, c0-founder of Campus Crusade for Christ, Vonette Bright, and more.

“If ever America was ever in need of prayer, it is now,” Cahn told WND. “There is a pervasive sense among many believers that America is in grave danger of God’s judgment. Every day brings a milestone on the road of America’s moral and spiritual descent.
‘The Harbinger’ reveals a progression of national judgment. The nation in defiance of God is shaken. The shaking is a warning and a wake-up call. If the nation doesn’t respond to the first shaking, there comes a second, and another, until the nation either returns to God, or descends to judgment,” Cahn clarified. “Sept. 11 was a wake-up call. In the wake of 9/11, Americans flocked to houses of worship to pray. But in three weeks, it was all over. Since that time America’s descent has increased in scope, depth and rapidity.”
And yet God calls His people in 2 Chronicles 7:14 to pray and intercede: “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and seek My face and pray, and turn from their evil ways, I will hear from heaven. I will forgive their sin, and I will heal their land.”
“People who read ‘The Harbinger’ ask me if there’s hope,” Cahn told WND. “I answer, ‘Yes.’ If there were no hope, there would be no harbingers. Why would God warn, if those He warns cannot respond? As long as there are harbingers and warnings, there is hope.
“That is the purpose of the National Day of Prayer,” he concluded, referencing 2 Chronicles 7:14. “But the key factors on which the promise and our hope hangs are ‘my people’ and ‘if.’”
The National Day of Prayer was established as an annual event in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman, though the tradition of a national day of prayer and fasting extends back to the very first presidents.
In 1798, for example, President John Adams proclaimed a national day of humiliation, prayer and fasting.
“As the safety and prosperity of nations ultimately and essentially depend on the protection and blessing of Almighty God, and the national acknowledgment of this truth is not only an indispensable duty which the people owe to Him,” he wrote, “this duty, at all times incumbent, is so especially in seasons of difficulty and of danger, when existing or threatening calamities – the just judgments of God against prevalent iniquity – are a loud call to repentance and reformation.”
The theme for the 2014 observance is “One Voice, United in Prayer,” emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to place their faith in the unfailing character of their Creator, who is sovereign over all governments, authorities and men.
To further highlight the theme, the National Prayer Task Force has chosen Romans 15:6 as a theme verse: “So that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
