I wrote the following to David James today in response to what he wrote below, and had to hold back stronger language, because of God’s mercy and grace. There is a Scripture that describes the spiritual and mental condition of a person whose conscience is seared and is self-justified in what he does after repeated warnings.
It describe that person’s mental state and how their cognitive abilities to reason and rationalize spiritually and biblically are impaired and damaged as he progressively and willfully gives himself over to this state of being. Even thinking himself to be in the right, and disregarding the clear mercies of God and the repeated warnings of God about such behavior, committed solely towards the completion of his enterprise above even God’s warnings. This is how it is described in God’s Word:
A man who hardens his neck after much reproof Will suddenly be broken beyond remedy; (Proverbs 29:1) which ties in perfectly with what the Apostle Paul writes in the Holy Spirit: For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools…(Romans 1:18-22)
Because they have strayed so far from the truth, they became foolish in their speculations, and their foolish heart has become darkened, (Romans 1:18-24) and have held to their fabrications about what and whom they are writing against, and profess themselves as the avatars of Christian truth, while claiming the opposite of all others whom they target; they have become foolish in their spinning of "truth": And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer; for by denying the truth and fabricating lies about other people in its place in order to change the narrative, these men no longer acknowledge the work of God, but deny it in those whom they target. God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, (Romans 1:28) for the Scripture is clear that it is not proper to act as judge and condemn one’s brother, for in so doing one judges the Law, just as it warns: Do not speak against one another, brethren. He who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge of it. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is able to save and to destroy; but who are you who judge your neighbor? (James 4:11-12); thus, it continues and says of them that they are being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them. (Romans 1:29-32)
I believe that these gentlemen are now at this stage in this spiritual regression, which explains their year-long inquisition and witch hunt, not just against Jonathan Cahn and The Harbinger, but also now they have set their sights and triggered their attacks against other Christian Evangelicals whom they disagree with, and have gone as far as calling them heretics and apostates from the faith.
This is a grave matter, brethren, and one that ought to be addressed, because it has gotten out of hand. If it is not dealt with, it will run the risk of becoming institutionalized and legitimized within Evangelical Christianity, and will most assuredly tear asunder. This is not how God works, and theirs – regardless of all the claims and quotations of various verses from the Bible – is not a Christian enterprise. It is not even biblical, though they claim it is.
In recent months, they have degenerated the once noble and biblical role Christian Apologetics played in defending our faith against cults and their teachings, and turned it in on itself by, without knowledge and lacking understanding, misusing the claim of “discernment” to unmercifully and insolently out and ridicule, slander, gossip about, and bear false witness against other Christians they’ve targeted for “correction.”
Discernment without the Holy Spirit leads to condemnation, and these men are very adept at doing that. They wield the sword of the Word of God like a meat cleaver against anyone with whom they disagree, and if they had their way; they’d strike them down on the spot without mercy in the name of Christ, as so many before them had when they had the political and military power to do so.
Compounded to this misuse of God’s Word is that they bear false witness against Christians without first exhausting all efforts at reconciliation and understanding with the other party by reaching out to them to resolve the matter and their differences.
With Jonathan Cahn, their contacts with him only served to crystalize the harden them against him. They had no intention of resolving the differences, and egregiously published writings about him that have absolutely no basis in reality. This is nothing short of bearing false witness against another and under the Law would have been a capital offense, but under grace it is no less egregious and wicked.

At this time I am convinced that Mr. James and his colleagues, and I’ll name there here: T.A. McMahon, Brannon Howse, Jimmy DeYoung, and a group of other self-appointed “discernment ministers” are at the stages enumerated and described above, and as time progresses and they continue in their activities, they themselves are hardening their own hearts against anyone who would approach them with an admonition to take care with what they do and say against the body of Christ.
There is just so much that such men can do, and only so far such activities can go, until there comes a time when the Lord Himself will exact His judgments on such men and deal with them as He has dealt with others like them in history. I fear for them, and indeed for myself and all when I think of such things, and I am thankful for the grace and lovingkindness of Almighty God, and His boundless patience towards us; patience we do not show one another.
May the Lord have mercy and straighten what is now crooked, and reconcile the brethren, raising up men and women of conviction who will be heard by these men, who will exhort them to take care with themselves and what they do and say, and to cease to do the enemy’s work of slashing and dicing their fellow members of the body of Christ over petty disagreements when the nation is falling all around US, and the call of The Harbinger needs to go forth and call everyone to repentance from dead works, calling upon the name that has been given under heaven among men by which we must be saved.
It is time that these men be addressed biblically and their methods and tactics exposed, because they do not preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but spend the bulk of their time and resources conducting what I would term "Anti-referrals of those Christians whom they target, and are extremely severe with them.
Recently, I viewed a video by Brannon Howse on Dr. James Dobson. The video on Dominion Theology, Howse takes issue with Dr. James and Shirley Dobson appearing with one with whom he and his colleagues disagree with doctrinally. Just on that basis alone, Mr. Howse trashes Dr. Dobson and his wife. Amazing. These people are so busy finding all kinds of faults in others, that they forget about the weightier things - the lost and the need for them to hear that Gospel of Jesus Christ, not why he disagrees with a public appearance at some gathering of Christians leaders with people Mr. Howse doesn't like. Wake up, Brannon, wake up. Get the beam out of your own eye before you go and try to force yourself on another brother to take out the speck you think you see in his.

"As certain also of your own poets" (v.28) - Probably he means not only ARATUS, in whose poem, entitled Phaenomena, the words quoted by St. Paul are to be found literatim, του γαρ και γενος εσμεν; but also CLEANTHUS, in whose HYMN TO JUPITER the same words (Εκ σου γαρ γενος εσμεν) occur. But the sentiment is found in several others, being very common among the more enlightened philosophers. By saying your own poets, he does not mean poets born at Athens, but merely Grecian poets, Aratus and Cleanthus being chief.
"We are also his offspring" (v.28) - Του γαρ και γενος εσμεν The Phaenomena of Aratus, in which these words are found, begins thus: -
With Jove we must begin; nor from him rove;
Him always praise, for all is full of Jove!
He fills all places where mankind resort,
The wide-spread sea, with every shelt'ring port.
Aratus was a Cilician, one of St. Paul's own countrymen, and with his writings St. Paul was undoubtedly well acquainted, though he had flourished about 300 years before that time.

LEGNA: "I choose instead to believe the words of Paul spoken directly from his lips as cited below. And any christian in his/her right mind who believes in the inerrant word of God will do the same."
If Paul led the way by consulting pagan sources as a means to aggrandize the message of the cross, then believers like Cahn should not be charged with heresy for simply following the apostle's lead in apologetically using Jewish sources like the Zohar.
Spurgeon, a Christian "in his right mind who believed in the inerrant word of God," agreed when he wrote >>>
"Oh! wicked Paul! to quote from a heathen poet! How disgraceful. If I were to repeat a verse, and it looked as if Shakespere or any profane author ever wrote such a thing, how criminal! say you. But I like good things wherever I find them. I have often quoted from the devil, and I dare say I shall often quote from his people. Paul quoted this from Meander, and another heathen poet, who wrote far worse things than have been written by modern poets, and if any of us who may have stored our minds with the contents of books we wish we had never read, and if there be some choice gems in them which may be used for the service of God, BY HIS HELP WE WILL SO USE THEM."
EDIT
Capitalized last sentence of Spurgeon's quote to add emphasis and to show unbiased readers of the Pharisaic attitude and irrational, self-righteous approach maintained by a certain poster who loves to throw stones but never once looks at his own faults and uncharitable vileness.

LEGNA:" Based upon your sources, you finally admitted they were poets and not mystics!"
I don't mind repeating myself for the sake of defending the truth and educating impregnable minds.
Again, ancient Greeks were engrossed in excessive polytheism, Zeus being the principal among their pantheon of gods. Many songs and poems were dedicated to this deity, which similar to the psalms of David and the Hebrew prophets, were rendered in a worshipful stance later termed or grouped under as `ORPHIC HYMNS.' One of these pagan Greek hymns originated with Cleanthes, a philosopher who helped found the school of Stoicism, and was given as an example of how Paul used it to reach out to Cleanthes' followers as detailed in Acts 17.
Your insinuation that the use of poetry was divorced from its religious context flies in the face of everything that is known of the mystery religions (clearly mystical in nature) with roots traceable to Orphism:
"the name given to a set of religious beliefs and practices originating in the ancient Greek and the Hellenistic world, as well as by the, associated with literature ascribed to the mythical poet Orpheus, who descended into Hades and returned. ..... Orpheus was said to have invented the Mysteries of Dionysus. POETRY containing distinctly Orphic beliefs has been traced back to the 6th century BC or at least 5th century BC, and graffiti of the 5th century BC apparently refers to `Orphics'."
EDIT
Paul's quoting of a polytheistic PAGAN hymn dedicated to Zeus is as damaging or more damaging than Cahn's quoting of the Zohar, a HEBREW source that acknowledges the one true God of the Bible and no other. Whether either of these sources were mystical or not does not take away the negativity with which they were attached, as the quote from Spurgeon above makes obvious.

Another reminder,
Please, for the third time:
(1) cite the page in the book where Cahn is introducing Kabbalistic teaching
(2) provide a paragraphic excerpt, in full context
(3) demonstrate how occultism is being taught by tracing the excerpt to the actual Kabbalistic source
(4) cite the Kabbalistic source (title, page #, editors, link)
Lastly, even if a trace is given, in order for your accusation to stick, you must clarify and ensure that Cahn IS NOT qualifying the reference, in other words, that Kabbalistic teaching is being introduced rather surreptitiously.
Your lack of a response to this challenge thus far is rather illuminating.
Wrong answer Mr. Legna. You missed items # 1, 2, 3, and 4 above.
I'll continue to repeat them for you, as well as the link, until you address the challenge.

BludBaut says:
"He went on to suggest that Paul would have been"crucified" by discernment ministries for using a hymn to Zeus and because of his associations.
That is a red herring."
Criticizing the "discernment ministries" is never a red herring. The "discernment ministries" are the embodiment of the spirit of the Pharisees who criticized everything Jesus and His disciples said and did because they didn't see it so plainly in Scripture that it slapped them upside the head.
The present day "discernment ministries" are JUST as dead to the Spirit of God as the Pharisees and just as proud and self-righteous and just as sure that they alone are the faithful ones and they disagree and protest everything that isn't a verbatim quote from Scripture because, in truth, they have no (spiritual) discernment at all.
And like the Pharisees, they don't know God and they don't hear Him. They oppose everything God is doing in the Church and they call all of it (the work of God) the work of the devil.
Please list for me the "discernment ministries" who heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons and have signs and wonders follow them.
That's FOUR qualifications that Jesus said would "follow them that believe." No, He didn't say it would follow them that parrot God's holy Word. Any parrot can do that and parrots don't get born again. It takes a man with spiritual eyes and ears to be able to hear God to have God "work with (him) confirming the Word with signs following."
You CANNOT make that list for which I asked because you can't name ONE "discernment ministry" to put on that list because NONE of them know the first thing about the power of God because none of them know the first thing about the Spirit of God, because they're Pharisees of today and all they can do is parrot God's Word WITHOUT power.
Jesus told a parable about the discernment ministries in the Church and said about them, "An enemy has done this!" He then said, "leave them alone" because He knew the foolish and ignorant young Believers would get uprooted with the discernment ministries ... I mean the tares, because they don't have the discernment to see that they're of the enemy.
I see the critics of the book and marvel at how blind they are to so much that is so obvious and how easily they justify and rationalize their perspective. It's easy to do. God has made it easy to do. In fact, if you'll remember, He occasionally said, "if anyone has ears to hear, let him hear." The Pharisees didn't hear because they were of a different spirit. They didn't even care if anything Jesus said was legitimate. They opposed Him in spirit, just like the "discernment ministries" oppose everything that's of God.
Jesus said, "Why can you not hear my words? Because you are not of my sheep." But these same men relied on their knowledge of the Bible. Yet, the Pharisees of today behave the same way and never see the parallel.

You are at the epicenter of this entire unfortunate affair. Unfortunately, you have ignored my own requests time and again; private and public to allow me to address pont by point every charge you have written against The Harbinger, asking you if you may grant me exclusive legal rights to quote from your book and your writings so that I may assist you in resolving this matter by pointing the light of God's Word to each point and discussing it objectively by quoting you word for word. I need your permission to do this, and you have not answered me, Mr. James. I do so repeat now this request, so that you may grant me what you did nto have the courtesy of asking Rabbi Cahn for when you quoted from his work without his permission or permission from his book's publisher. Will you grant - I ask you here for the sake of resolving the matter bibilcally once and for all, grant me exclusive rights to quote your entire work at length, and address point by point what you have written? If you are sure that what you have writen is correct and biblical, and sincerely want to get to the heart of the matter and get this resolved once and for all, then let me encourage you to grant me my request, and let us meet to discuss it in writing. I await your answer and response. Thank you.

The Pepster says:
This is the first time I have ever witnessed in my 35 years in God's grace someone criticizing another Christian on how he shares the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
Mr. James, I respectfully submit to you that you go back and come down from the heights you've put yourself in, and understand this about yourself as it applies to the person whom you criticize, and all others, including myself - we are wretches saved by the grace and calling of Almgihty God in Christ Jesus Our Lord. So, if I were you, I'd seriously reconsider what you have written and retract it, because you are in violation of James 4:11-12, and you are doing it in a manner that slanders how another shares Jesus Christ no less! This is a real first. Oh, by the way; if you claim that you are writing as Paul did regarding others who preached the Gospel out of contention, I’ll remind you that it is you who are criticizing Jonathan Cahn over how he preaches the Gospel and not the other way around, much as it was with these “contentious brethren” of whom Paul in the Holy Spirit writes. I quote: Some, to be sure, are preaching Christ even from envy and strife, but some also from good will; the latter do it out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel; the former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition rather than from pure motives, thinking to cause me distress in my imprisonment. What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice. (Philippians 1:15-18)

You are both Cessationists, and therein lies your problem. As Cessationists, you do not believe that the God of the Bible, who speaks from Genesis to Revelations, speaks prophetically today. This disqualifies you and he from this discussion because you both (like other Cessationists) deny one of the key works of the Holy Spirit in convicting people of sin; God speaks to their hearts directly through the imperfect messengers He sends - us! Get off your high horse David! We're all in this together.

We've gone way past that with the current president; the first world leader in history to attempt to legitimize the deviant abomination of homesexuality and same sex marriage, the elevation of Islam over Christianity in the White House, the IRS's pursuit from orders directly from this White House against Evangelical Christians for their faith and the denial of tax exempt status of certain groups that oppose this president's policies, etc... One can go on and on, and not to mention, this president's direct support of infanticide, and tax payer support for abortion on demand, that has already snuffed out - MURDERED - over 50 million human beings. I'd say we've gone way past the tipping point.
David James and others like him who claim to be unbiased are lying. The minute that one posits an opinion about something, he or she has forfeited any claims to being "unbiased." There is no such thing as an "unbiased opinion." That is an oxymoron.
SIDEBAR: An interesting entry from someone named JPCollado Regarding Paul's use of pagan mystical literature in Acts 17:28 JB
Many well thought and well meaning comments here. Sometimes though, in our accuracy of detail we miss the basic point. Starting with the Plymouth Bay colony the history of America’s founding shows it was indeed dedicated to God and seen as a “stepping stone” for bringing the gospel to the whole world. Our “ivy league” schools were even founded for that same purpose. Though well documented such has been at best willfully ignored and at worst intentionally suppressed. In this “calling” and original intention to be a “light to the nations” America uniquely shares a commonality with Israel. It should not be difficult for the unbiased historian and bible scholar to see the national parallels Jonathan Cahn illumines for us and get his message right. Why all the fuss? Let’s not miss the point!

Hi George,
Thanks you for taking time to read my article and comment. Some of your concerns are more fully addressed in my book, The Harbinger: Fact or Fiction? Obviously, the length of my article, of necessity, prevented me from dealing with everything that required adressing.
I don’t think I missed any of the basic points of the book and in fact fully acknowledge them in my book. However, whatever happened at Plymouth Bay Colony and whatever they intended, they were biblical wrong on several counts. As well-meaning as they may have been, their actions did not place America in covenant with God. It is true that God has blessed America in many ways, which contributed to the ability of many Americans and churches to be involved with spreading the gospel. I would not go so far as to say that America shares a unique commonality with Israel – but rather that it has more in common with ancient Nineveh as a gentile nation. Even a cursory examination of my book makes it easy for an unbiased historian and Bible scholar to see that much of what Jonathan Cahn has manufactured to look like paralells are in fact not even close approximations, let alone the exact matches that he has consistently claimed for well over a year. It is, unfortunately, a grand illusion that needs to be exposed. I would go further to suggest that rather than missing the point, the fact that so many have accepted his message shows how desperately this country is in trouble because so many well-meaning Christians don’t even understand the Word of God well enough to see that Cahn is the one who has missed many points and millions have almost blinded followed him.

You are now in willful and blasphemous denial of the facts. Even when confronted by them, you stay with your contentions. Every idle word you have written will be judged by The Judge to whom every person will give an account, and The Harbinger: Fact or Fiction will be burned up along with every article you’ve written on this matter. You have brought this upon yourself, and you will be held accountable by God for it. You have slandered your brother in Christ needlessly, and have without ceasing done inestimable harm to the cause of Christ. You have given the accuser of the brethren grist for the mill of contention against the claims of our faith by your conduct. You will most assuredly reap what you have sown upon yourself along with your colleagues. Apologetics defends the Christian Faith, and is not a license to turn it against your own brethren to destroy them by claiming “discernment.” It is not a weapon to be wielded by one Christian against another. I would suggest you listen to the message of Chuck Swindoll for Thursday, June 13th, 2013, and may the Holy Spirit of God shine Christ’s light on your thinking and help you see the light of God’s justice and grace, and lead you to repentance in Christ.
I believe that the more these people press, the more they will be chastised for their insolence. I was reading on Amazon.com David James’ exchanges with, Lee, a member of our congregation whom I know, a dear brother in the Lord, and I couldn’t get passed just how obsessed this man has become.
Reading the exchanges he’s had with Lee and others, including his (and Brannon Howse & others’) treatment of Jan Markell, and Eric Barger; every person who’s had these exchanges with him readily understand that there is something wrong in his “reading things into what one says” and reinterpreting it to mean something else. It appears that this is some type of pattern of behavior on his part, and as I’ve written before; this is spiritual.
This type of opposition is spiritual in nature. This is not just an intellectual undertaking between like-minded or unlike-minded intellects about religious eschatology, there is something else to David James’ pathology, and therein lies the spiritual nature behind it. We don’t wrestle with flesh and blood and the weapons of our warfare not carnal, but are divinely wrought for the destruction of fortresses.
I am a firm believer that whatever a person gives themselves to they become its servant, and God providentially allows it; and David James has surrendered himself wholly to whatever motivates him – the idol of doctrinal purity, call it what you like – and expresses what that idol motivates him to say and do; and so do his colleagues.
Right now he appears to be their “posterboy” in their attempts to squelch The Harbinger’s warning to America. There is something fundamentally wrong with this type of opposition and scorched earth mentality being exhibited by these men. One would think that when the Gospel is being proclaimed along with a warning to a nation, such as The Harbinger does; Christians like these would rally behind it, and give it their full support. But since it was published, it has met with nothing but the most vehement opposition from these people. This indicates to me that, like everything else, there is a spiritual dimension to the entire controversy.
The problem is that because he is a Christian, such works will themselves be burned up, and only that which he truly did for Christ will remain. I’ve warned him about this, and so has everyone here, but alas, he is not listening, nor did he ever.
My personal opinion, and this is just my opinion and no one else’s; I sense there is something that is not right with him. I’m not referring to his doctrines, I refer to something with him, don’t know what it is, nor is it my business to know; but I sense there is something that for a long time, has not been right with him. His reaction and obsession with The Harbinger, and approach to it is the tip of the iceberg.
