THE HARBINGER: A PLEA & WARNING TO DAVID JAMES, THE BEREAN CALL, AND OTHERS

Dear David,

Quite often I have heard you say that if people know your heart, they will understand your true intentions about why you have devoted now it appears almost all of your time and energies pursuing Jonathan Cahn, a brother in Christ, with such zeal.  Let me pose to you that you have lost yourself and do not know where your heart truly is in this witch hunt, because you have delivered your will to this cause thinking you are serving God (as Saul of Tarsus once did, read his autobiography in his letters); and it took a revelation of Jesus Christ for him to abandon what he was doing.

He had letters of commendation from the religious leadership of his day authorizing him to pursue, arrest, and incarcerate all followers of Jesus of Nazareth throughout Judea and the surrounding regions where Jewish communities predominated.  He had legitimate reasons to believe that his cause was right, and that he was doing the right thing, as you do.  He had a zeal for God and abandoned his will into it, just as you have done.  I submit to you that you no longer are in complete control of your faculties, though you believe you still are. 

Evidence of this is your inability to accept reproof when given to you by so many people – people who have not met, do not know each other, and are all born again members of the body of Christ.  It is time for you to awaken.  Remember what the proverb warns in regard to this, because it is universal to all people; and that is that a man who hardens his neck after much reproof will suddenly be broken beyond remedy. (Proverbs 29:1)

If you haven’t become that casualty, the evidence indicates that you and your associates – Brannon Howse, T.A. McMahon, Thomas Ice and others – are on the fast track to having this Scripture fulfill in your lives.  You and they are on the fast track to a colossal train wreck.  But you and they must be the judge to that, and I would ask you to prayerfully before God, in true sincerity inquire and ask that He open the eyes of your understanding in order for you and they to see the truth.  This is independent of The Harbinger and your treatment of Jonathan Cahn.  This deals with your personal lives and walk in Christ and how you see yourselves.  This is why it bears witness upon so many people to independently equate your words and behavior, and how you have all reacted to criticism from these various sources with a total and reckless disregard, dismissing them all as “straw man arguments,” and other convenient self-justifying dismisses of things that a truly humble person would’ve brought immediately before God, and at the very least acknowledged publicly that he would.  You and they have not, and have hardened yourselves to them.  Not good.

Be careful then that the Scripture that says: For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness (Romans 1:18) – because if you suppress the truth about yourselves and what you are doing and have been doing to a brother in Christ; another servant of God, for over a year now – then you are engaged in the greatest unrighteousness, for you are bearing false witness against another, are acting in quick judgment of that other brother in violation of the Law for you have become judges of it – as it says, Do not speak against one another, brethren.  He who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge of it. (James 4:11)  There is a biblical manner in resolving doctrinal differences and differences of opinion among brethren.  Neither you or any of your colleagues have followed it or practice it in your lives, but you have built entire “ministries” around the false mantle of “discernment” and have abused the proper use of Apologetics in reckless crusades against other legitimate Christian ministries and causes for years now.  As James asks in the Holy Spirit, so do I, There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is able to save and to destroy; but who are you who judge your neighbor? (James 4:12)  Who do you people really think you are?  Judge, jury, and executioner before the bar of public opinion, before the Judge and Lawgiver of life, and try your brethren without mercy at every turn with every available resource at your disposal to destroy their faith, their walk, their ministry, and their credibility in the name of the blessed Savior who Himself was persecuted in the same manner you persecute your brethren!?

You have abandoned true Christian Orthopraxy with the false religiously bigoted acts and behavior of the Pharisees and Sadducees of Jesus day, and of every age – the public practice of religious persecution of God’s servants in the name of God by any means possible in order to discredit and destroy their testimony and their work, and submit them to your will.  You do not have to belong to any religious order to do this; this has been the legacy of every religious bigot since the dawn of man. 

Remember, no one who has ever done this has ever believed their cause was wrong, or that they were opposing God.  Quite the contrary; they believed their cause was right, and saw themselves as the protectors of their faith, fighting what appeared to them the heresies of their day.  What’s more, they produced convincing polemics in support to support their convictions which later became the doctrinal thesis to justify the crimes and excesses of the Counter Reformation, the Crusades, the Spanish and European Inquisitions, and the wholesale murder of millions throughout history.  Hitler and other Anti-Semites even used Martin Luther’s later writings to justify his genocide of innocent Jews in the last century.  The pen is mightier than the sword, but the pen you wield against your neighbor and against your brother is the Sword of God’s Eternal and inerrant Word, therefore what you do, you do to rob your brother of his credibility, kill the life of His ministry, and destroy him utterly from the faith; which is the work not of God, but of the thief of our faith, according to Jesus Christ’s own words. (John 10:10)  Beware.  Beware of yourselves.

Because you and your colleagues are born again Christians, I have no doubt that you are saved, just as all other parties in these debates are saved.  But I do understand that by your actions and words, there has been created needless controversies, disputes, and persecutions of others stemming from all of this that could’ve been avoided.  This is why James (above) in the Holy Spirit warns against it, and the Scriptures teach the proper manner that differences of opinion and doctrines are to be resolved among believers – among Christian brethren.  I outline them in my upcoming book.  You and your colleagues will – Lord willing – be able to read them for yourselves, though they are not far from you, because all you and they need to do is to open your Bibles with humble hearts and allow God to speak to you from them, and He will.

But if you do not want to do listen to this, then be careful that the following Scripture does not or has not come to pass in your lives which says:

For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.  Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.

This then is the spiritual state of a person who has known God or knows Him, for it says very clearly of them – even though they knew God (Romans 1:21a) – so it is speaking of people of faith who KNEW GOD – they did not honor as God, or give thanks (Romans 1:21b) – when one dismisses repeated exhortations from other Christians and build a wall of convenient excuses to justify themselves before other people, while God is sending to them one person after another warning them of what they are doing; they are no longer honoring God, but are in willful rejection of His repeated admonitions through His servants.  Paul makes it very clear what results from this, when he writes that their foolish heart becomes darkened. (Romans 1:21c)  Then he follows this with the evidence manifesting itself in the following manner, Professing to be wise, they became fools .(Romans 1:22)  A form of cognitive dissonance (spiritual blindness) comes over them that impairs their ability at true circumspection, because they no longer acknowledge themselves (in their thinking) as wretches saved by God’s grace, after all, they are servants of Christ aren’t they?  And now see themselves as God’s rightful avatars of truth and sole defenders of the faith. 

This is the natural progression of the Pharisee state of mind  - the spiritual, mental, emotional, and behavioral state of being they find themselves in.  They become factious and divisive, and of these we are warned to keep away from after a second and third warning. (Titus 3:10)  Once they’ve reached this state of mind, it is nearly impossible for anyone to convince them otherwise, because they are too far gone; though nothing is impossible for God, because we have Paul’s example to give us hope.  God will always receive the truly penitent heart and restore all things to that person.  He can and will do that for you and for your colleagues too, if you but heed the repeated warnings and do the right thing. 

Do not think of yourself/yourselves above this; for the people who write to you to warn you of them have the Holy Spirit too, and it is a witness that so many from so many diverse places and backgrounds are coming forward and writing to you as I do here and have done privately before to warn you in the love of Christ and the fellowship of His Holy Spirit to look up, walk circumspectly and humbly, and end this persecution; this witch hunt, because it has gotten out of hand, and God is not pleased, nor does it do Him honor for those who are His servants to conduct themselves in such a manner.  Christ is not served by it, nor is He glorified, but the enemies of the cross are being given by the enemy ammunition to discredit our faith before a world we must reach with the Gospel.  Many lives hang in the balance, many ministries as well.

But to those who will not listen to repeated reproof, and think themselves above it, and build all sorts of excuses to justify themselves in front of others, the following is what occurs:

Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them.  For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. (Romans 1:21-25)  False beliefs in oneself and false opinions of oneself and others is sin and therefore a state of impurity, and subject to all that comes with it.  It affects one’s mental was well as physical health, just as the proper understanding of God’s Word and its practice brings mental as well as physical good health to one’s life, for they are life to those who find them and health to all their body; just as the proverb says. (Proverbs 4:22)  You have turned the truth of God for a lie – the lie of academic intellectual pursuits over Christian truth, and have bowed before the false altar of your own theological superiority over others.  You don’t even realize this, and don’t think for a moment that it hasn’t crossed your mind/s because the Holy Spirit speaks to you, but it is up to you to listen to what He says.  The choice of whether you listen and obey or not is totally up to you and you alone.  Remember, this has been the characteristics that have marked every religious order that has opposed God’s revivals and God’s servants throughout human history.  No one is above it, and no one is exempt.  This is why we must be careful to practice Christian Orthopraxy towards our brethren and be careful to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8)

Be careful then that the following Scriptures have not come to pass with you and your colleagues, for no one is exempt from them, which say:

‘Go to this people and say,

“You will keep on hearing, but will not understand;

And you will keep on seeing, but will not perceive;

For the heart of this people has become dull,

And with their ears they scarcely hear,

And they have closed their eyes;

Otherwise they might see with their eyes,

And hear with their ears,

And understand with their heart and return,

And I would heal them.”’

(Acts 28:26b-27)

I am not saying that it has fully come to pass, otherwise I would not feel compelled in the Holy Spirit to send this warning to you, and you would not be receiving it from others.  The evidence that you do and are receiving it, is a measure of God’s mercy and grace in your lives, and a plea from His heart to yours to awaken and see what you have done, and return to your former state of being, because it is very late, and the disease has progressed, but it is not incurable.  Turn back, repent, and seek the Lord God, and you’ll find mercy at the feet of Jesus Christ the Lord.  Remember His words:

But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him, for there is no one who will perform a miracle in My name, and be able soon afterward to speak evil of Me. (Mark 9:39)

This is why He pleaded with Saul of Tarsus, “Saul, Saul; why are you persecuting Me?” (Acts 9:4, 22:7, 26:14)  What you do, you do to your brother and your brethren; but you do not only to him/they; but you do to Christ.  This is wickedness in its worst form, because whether intentionally done or unintentionally done; it masquerades as Christian service.  It is not.  Turn, turn from your wicked ways.  Turn in Jesus ‘ name, turn to Him.  The hour is late, very late, and the disease is advanced, but not incurable.  Be reconciled to God, plead for His mercy, and apologize and make peace with your brother/brethren before Christ comes.  And learn not to repeat this mistake again.
