WHITHER GOEST AMERICA? WILL IT BE AMERICA OR AMERIKA?

“We are just days from fundamentally transforming this nation.”
Barack Hussein Obama three days prior to the presidential elections of 2008

When candidate Obama uttered those words to a highly supportive and enthusiastic crowd of camp political camp followers, few knew or even caught what exactly he meant and planned by that promise; a promise he planned to keep. From that time to the present – two years – he has embarked on the most far sweeping change of how federal power is applied at the state and local level this country has ever seen.

On practically every level, Barack Obama has increased the size, power, and spending of government more than all of his predecessors combined – indeed beyond anyone who voted for him had envisioned. The change he brought was not the change they anticipated. They thought he would usher in an era of bi-partisanship, and put behind him the recrimination and gutter politics that the Clintons had brought to the capital, and that had marred the political landscape with the abuse of federal power against political rivals and so-called enemies of the Clintons. They believed him when he promised that he would put away once and for all the dirt and the smut that politicians flung against one another, and that he would resolve almost all of the nation’s ills, especially its economic depression looming on the horizon as the nation entered his era of change and hope.

With the coming new year, the hope gave was seen as nothing but a hype. The promise of recovery became a bed of woeful affliction of every type as the nation headed closer and closer to financial meltdown and millions faced great financial and personal loss. By late 2009, the nation was in depression, but the pundits and the media elites were telling the people that the “recession” as they called it, was over, and that the nation was now in recovery. The reality out in the streets and throughout the nation was anything but what was being reported by the media; more and more people were out of work, more Americans had exhausted all of their unemployment benefits and were now faced without work and with a cushion to keep them from losing their homes, and paying for their most basic necessities. But, the federal government was quick to bail out the most powerful interests in banking, insurance, the large brokerage firms, and the auto industry, which it nationalized in the name of saving it. Overnight with a stroke of the federal pen signed by President Obama, thousands of thriving dealerships across the country were forced to shut down, some having been family businesses for decades; while the federal government under the control of the large unions wielded federal power to decide who would close and would remain open. Dealerships that were politically connected were given the green light to remain open, and in many cases were mandated by the Obama Administration to take over the business of other dealerships with no political connections. By the end of the year, the American people knew that Chicago style politics had come to Washington and Barack Obama’s promise of “change you can believe in” was nothing but more of the same old politics, except now it was on steroids and wielding the power of the Executive Branch of the federal government under the new president they helped to elect.

As the nation continued to slip into further economic depression, more and more Americans saw their life’s earnings disappear, and the hope and change had given way to despair and depression. The dream had given way to the nightmare; and for the first time more and more Americans began to understand what they had unleashed upon themselves with the man they put in office. Buyer’s remorse had now taken hold of the nation, and the shining symbol they had viewed the day of the inauguration was now dust in the cold winds of the winter of their discontent as Obama’s first year in office was coming to a close.

With the new year, the national mood had become somber and disenchanted as more and more of the very same people who helped elect the new president realized they had been had; and more and more Americans felt disenfranchised with Washington, having witnessed their elected representatives conduct back room deals in the dead of night and arm twisting political kickbacks for those supporting the president’s health care reform, every one of its supporters not having read the legislation before casting their vote for it. It had become an unpopular piece of very bad legislation foisted upon the American electorate without their approval – their representatives had not even sought their consent before voting for the new legislation, a breach of trust which they and their party would pay dearly for later that year during the midterm elections. Obama wanted his healthcare reform passed, and by golly, they were going to pass it no matter what, and they did. Congress had become nothing more than the new president’s rubber stamp, and enacted almost every provision and measure he brought before them for a vote – every piece of legislation a bad one which would accelerate the hemorrhaging of jobs to more amenable business environments overseas. America was in a quagmire of her own creation and its leaders had sold out their party’s interest and the interests of the elites who owned them rather than those of the nation and the people who elected them.

As the months rolled along and the midterms approached, everything that was said by Obama’s detractors about the new initiatives the president had supported and his congress had passed was now coming to pass, but it was worst than they had warned. The rose that everyone who voted for Obama’s hope and change had now become ashes in their laps. The golden egg every family was promised had been exposed as fool’s gold. And as more and more Americans had become disenchanted and disappointed with the president’s policies, the conciliatory voice they had heard during the 2008 campaign had given way to and taken on a shrill and increasingly more partisan and accusing tone. The public began to see that the symbol of hope and change had been nothing more than a cynical ploy of the best Madison Avenue advertising money could buy, and boy did it take money and a lot of hard work to create that image, and it had worked; but in the light of the cold hard reality of what was before them, the public began to see that mansion of hope and change had been the shack of despair and political corruption. Again, Chicago style Democratic Machine politics had come to the White House and to congress.

But it did not end just with the way the new president was running things, he now had taken his brand of politics and worldview overseas, and in the most humiliating fashion castigate his own country before the nations of the world, as he paid homage to the leaders of Muslim nations, in one instance showing obeisance to the king of Saudi Arabia, a display that could only be made by one practicing Muslim to the political and religious leader of the Sunni Muslim World. It didn’t stop there. Terrorist incident which had been prevented for eight years under the previous president’s policies, now took center stage as a crazed practicing Muslim opened fire in Fort Hood, Texas and killed several of his army colleagues while wounding others before he was himself shot by military police. In what could have become a second 9/11 over the skies of an unsuspecting country, another Muslim fanatic attempted but failed to ignite a makeshift bomb in his underwear, and was later apprehended when the plane safely landed. That day over two hundred innocent souls would have lost their lives. Obama was quick to warn Americans not to become alarmed by these incidents and continued to make apologetic excuses for such acts even before all of the facts had began to come in about them.

Still, it didn’t end there, the Department of Homeland Security under Janet Napolitano, appointed by President Obama, had now changed the role of the War on Terror to investigating veterans returning home from war and conservatives, particularly white males, whom her memo deemed risks to national security. On orders from Eric Holder, Obama’s Attorney General, the Department of Justice ordered the FBI to discontinue their surveillance of radical elements in this country and cells they had been following and watching very closely. On his orders the Department of Justice was to cease and desist from further investigation of the New Black Panther Movement – an even more radical, racist and Anti-Semitic group than the original Black Panthers, of which even some of the original Black Panthers had themselves denounced as hateful and racist. It was becoming clear to the American people that the people in charge at the top were not conducting government in their best interests, though all claims to the opposite were continually being made.

In the face of all that had transpired the past two years, the American electorate had had it, and throughout the nation, T.E.A. Parties gathered by the tens of thousands, and then by the hundreds of thousands, and then by almost a million, but with each gathering the media – ideological and political allies of Obama – were quick to under-report the numbers, and charges by them and by Democrats such as Chuck Schumer (D. NY), Nancy Pelosi (D.Cal.), Harry Reid (D. Nev.), Charles Wrangle (D. NY), and many others of the progressive New Democrats (as they had been hailed by the sympathetic press when they began to appear in Washington on Bill Clinton’s coat tails in the 92’ election), were made against the T.E.A. Party as extreme. The same politicians who were amongst the most leftwing that the Democratic Party had ever had were now charging grassroots Americans as extreme, calling them angry. In an overt act of provocation, a group of black Democratic congressmen walked through a T.E.A. Party rally in a blatant attempt to foster an incident they could tag as racist, yet when none materialized, some of their number charged those gathered as having shouted racial slurs against them. It was reported and even recorded at the scene that no slur was ever made, and the charges made by these congressmen provocateurs were spurious. In a flash, America got a taste of what Obama’s hope and change was all about as the president’s minions did his bidding as he sat back and observed and used each provocation to his political advantage. America had begun to see the real man behind the curtain, and he did not look at all like what they had been manipulated to see by history’s most effective public relations campaign a year before.

And so we’ve come to this juncture, and we are being told by our press to expect a political tsunami eclipsing the one that swept Obama and his Democrats into office in 2008, only this time in reverse. Are we to believe the pundits and the talking heads that come Tuesday? That the Democrats may lose about one hundred seats in the House of Representatives and approximately ten seats in the Senate? Or is talk show host Michael Savage correct when warning that the Left who control political machineries in almost every major metropolitan city throughout the country will by now have sprung to action to ensure the usual multiple votes, votes by dead people, and loss absentee ballots coming in from those serving in the armed forces overseas? Are we to expect voter registration fraud on an unprecedented scale throughout the country, with pre-selected ballots favoring the Democrats and rigged machines manned by operatives and technicians from the SEIU, and the DNC? Already we have heard of such occurrences in key battleground states where the incumbent Democrats are battling for their political lives and their expectation of holding their seats dwindling as the days to Tuesday’s elections draw near? He seems to be the only talking head that this writer has heard make this observation, and quite frankly, it is most disquieting. It is disquieting because on every level such an act to mitigate the will of the American electorate would only serve to make evident to US just how far we have fallen, and that things are a lot worse than we thought for our nation, our liberties, and our future. If this is the case, then we are at a watershed, at a crossroads, but either way, whether this comes to pass, or we see real substantive change come next Tuesday, the nation will be at a crossroads, and we will all be in it.
